Set in the heart of an oak forest in the Basque Country, this 80 sqm cabin blends quietly into the landscape, almost invisible from the surrounding paths. More than a simple retreat, it is conceived as a fully independent extension of the home, in direct dialogue with the forest that surrounds it.
The architecture relies exclusively on durable, locally sourced materials. Built entirely from solid oak, the structure raises the cabin above the ground on stilts, leaving the natural terrain undisturbed while bringing the living spaces closer to the tree canopy. This light-touch approach creates filtered views through the foliage and enhances the sensation of being suspended between the forest floor and the treetops.
The cabin provides a complete living space organised around a wood-burning stove, forming the warm heart of the retreat. A kitchen and bathroom are discreetly integrated, combining autonomy with understated comfort. Outside, a fireplace extends the living space into the clearing, creating a place to gather around the fire and experience the changing rhythm of the seasons.
